OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
UPDATED VISITOR ACCESS
During the Restoration of the Borobudur Temple Main Stupa
Restoration Period 16 September to 24 October 2026
Borobudur Temple Management hereby announces temporary adjustments to visitor access during the restoration of the Main Stupa of Borobudur Temple
These arrangements are implemented to support the restoration work while maintaining visitor safety and ensuring that visits can continue in designated areas
REGULAR AND PILGRIMAGE VISITS
Regular and pilgrimage visitors may access Borobudur Temple up to Level 8 Terrace 1
Visitor access is limited to the following sides of Borobudur Temple

• East
• Southeast
• South
• Southwest
• West

SUNRISE AND SUNSET VISITS
Sunrise and sunset visits remain open during the restoration period
Visitors participating in these programs may access Borobudur Temple up to Level 9 Terrace 2
Visitor access is limited to the following sides of Borobudur Temple

• East
• Southeast
• South
• Southwest
• West

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE NORTH SIDE

• Visitor access to the grounds and exterior area of Borobudur Temple on the north side is temporarily closed during the restoration period
• Visitors are requested not to enter or cross any restricted area barrier or designated work zone
• VISITOR SAFETY
• For the safety of visitors and restoration personnel all visitors are required to follow safety signs and designated routes
• Visitors must observe all barriers and restricted areas
• Visitors must follow instructions given by authorized staff and officers
• Visitors must remain within designated visitor areas

Entry into the restoration work zone is strictly prohibited
We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all visitors during this restoration period
These temporary access arrangements are intended to ensure that restoration work can proceed safely while visitors continue to enjoy their experience at Borobudur Temple
