Sultan’s Royal Palace (Kraton Yogyakarta)
The Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat serves as the official residence of the Sultan of Yogyakarta and remains a vital center of Javanese culture. This grand palace features traditional Javanese architecture, exquisite carvings, elegant pavilions, and lush gardens, offering a glimpse into the city’s royal heritage.

Taman Sari Water Castle
Located within the Kraton complex, Taman Sari is an 18th-century royal garden and water palace built between 1758-1765 by Sultan Hamengkubuwono I. Originally designed as a retreat for the Sultan and his family, it now stands as a historical site with stunning ancient pools and intricate structures.

Sonobudoyo Museum
One of Indonesia’s most important cultural museums, Sonobudoyo houses a rich collection of archaeological artifacts, traditional weapons, puppetry, textiles, and ancient manuscripts, offering deeper insights into Javanese heritage. (Closed on Mondays.)
