Jomblang Cave – A Spectacular Vertical Caving Experience
Jomblang Cave is one of Gunungkidul’s most famous natural wonders. This collapse doline cave was formed thousands of years ago when the earth’s surface and its vegetation sank, creating a massive sinkhole.
Cave Entrance: A 50-meter-wide sinkhole, locally known as Luweng Jomblang.
Main Attraction: The "Light of Heaven" – a surreal beam of sunlight streaming through the cave’s ceiling, creating a magical, almost otherworldly sight.
Jomblang Caving Adventure
Rappel 60 meters down into the cave using professional safety equipment.

Preparation for Jomblang Caving
To ensure a safe and comfortable adventure inside Jomblang Cave, please prepare the following items:
- Reliable Flashlight
- Essential for navigating the vertical path and underground tunnel safely.
- Socks & Towels
- Bring dry socks and a towel to clean and dry your feet after caving.
- Note: Rubber boots (safety boots) are provided at the cave site.
- Sandals & Spare Clothes
- A clean change of clothes and comfortable footwear for after the caving session.
- Mosquito Repellent
- Highly recommended to prevent insect bites before entering the cave.
- Small Backpack
- Easy to carry your personal items during the tour.
- Camera or Smartphone
- Don’t miss the chance to capture the famous “Heaven’s Light” — a magical natural light beam inside the cave.
Jomblang Caving Restrictions
- Age Limit: 5–60 years old
- Weight Limit: Maximum 150 kg/person
- Daily Participant Limit: 75 people/day (Advance booking is required!)
HOLIDAY CLOSURE NOTICE
- Jomblang Cave will be closed on March 31 – April 1, 2025 (Lebaran Holiday).
- During this period, Indonesia celebrates Hari Raya Idul Fitri, a national holiday where many businesses temporarily close.
