Important Visitor Information: Yogyakarta & Borobudur
Dear Colleagues, Please be informed that Borobudur Sunrise at the Temple will be closed on 20 and 21 March 2026 due to special arrangements during the Eid holiday period. On these dates, access to climb the Borobudur Temple structure will only start from 09:30 AM, and visits will continue according to the regular visiting sessions until the Sunset at the Temple program. We kindly ask you to adjust your tour arrangements accordingly. Should you require alternative sunrise options around Borobudur, we would be happy to assist. Thank you for your attention and cooperation.

Here’s what you need to know if you’re traveling on a Monday: Closed Every Monday in Yogyakarta Several key cultural attractions in Yogyakarta are closed on Mondays, including: • Keraton Yogyakarta (Sultan’s Palace) • Sonobudoyo Museum • Taman Sari Water Castle • Ullen Sentalu Museum Note: At Prambanan Temple, visitors can only access the temple grounds on Mondays. Entry into the inner temple complex is not permitted. Temple Access – Borobudur, Pawon & Mendut Open Daily Good news! Borobudur, Pawon, and Mendut Temples are now open every day, including Mondays. Even better — Climbing to the upper levels of Borobudur is also allowed on Mondays, as long as you have: • A valid climbing ticket • A visit scheduled within the official guided climbing session Stay informed and make the most of your cultural adventure in Yogyakarta and Central Java!
