Discover Jomblang Cave – A Natural Wonder

Jomblang Cave is one of the many breathtaking caves in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. This vertical collapse doline was formed thousands of years ago when the ground and its vegetation sank into the earth, creating a massive sinkhole about 50 meters in diameter. Known locally as "Luweng Jomblang," this cave offers a unique adventure and stunning natural beauty.

Jomblang Cave is famous for its "heavenly light"—a spectacular beam of sunlight that illuminates the cave floor through an opening in the ceiling, creating a mystical atmosphere. Visitors will rappel 60 meters down using specialized caving equipment, guided by professional experts.

Important Notes:

• Not recommended for those with claustrophobia or fear of heights.
• Best visited during the dry season (May - October) for safety reasons.
• Tour duration: 4-5 hours, including transportation, equipment rental, and guiding services.

The Jomblang Cave Adventure

To descend into Jomblang Cave, visitors must use the Single Rope Technique (SRT). Beginners will be assisted by professional cavers. There are four descent tracks:

• VIP Track: Easiest route, with a 15-meter steep slope followed by 20 meters of SRT descent.
• Track A: 80 meters vertical descent.
• Track B: 60 meters vertical descent.
• Track C: 40 meters vertical descent.

Timang Beach – A Hidden Gem

Timang Beach is a pristine, untouched coastal area in Gunung Kidul, known for its white sandy beaches, steep rocky cliffs, and crystal-clear waters. The beach has two sections:

1. Eastern Side – A white sandy beach similar to other beaches in the area.
2. Western Side – Steep cliffs leading directly to the sea, with a rocky island known as Timang Island (Panjang Island).

Local fishermen use a traditional cable car to cross the sea and catch lobsters on Timang Island. Visitors can experience this thrilling gondola ride (or cross via a rope bridge) at their own expense.

HOLIDAY CLOSURE NOTICE

Jomblang Cave is closed on March 31 - April 1, 2025, for the Lebaran holiday.

Lebaran, also known as Hari Raya Idul Fitri, is a national holiday marking the end of Ramadan. Many Indonesians travel to visit family during this period.
