Borobudur Temple Access Guidelines
Help preserve history while enjoying your visit
To protect and sustain the beauty of Borobudur Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, new visitor regulations are now in place. These ensure a meaningful and respectful experience for all travelers.

Visiting Days & Hours
• Open: Tuesday – Sunday
• Closed for Climbing: Every Monday (temple grounds still open)
• Opening Hours: 09:00 – 17:00 WIB

Access to the Upper Temple (Stupa Levels)
• Limited to 1,200 visitors per day
• All visitors must join a guided climbing session
• Access is based on scheduled time slots (see below)

Guided Climbing Sessions

Important Notes:

• Guided access includes official temple guides for an enriched experience
• Comfortable footwear is recommended; special sandals (upanat) may be provided
• Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled session
